Holy Monday reveals where Jesus obtained strength to face the challenges of Passion Week. The Bible scholar, William Barclay suggests,

“Before he [Jesus] joined the battle with men he sought the presence of God. It was only because each day he [Jesus] faced God that he could face men with such courage.”¹

Several times, Jesus had made the journey to Jerusalem for Passover–-as a baby in His mother’s womb, a 12-year-old questioned by the teachers of the Law, and finally, as the Sacrificial Lamb and Redeemer. Yet, the triumphant celebration of Jesus’ final entry into the Holy City on Sunday withered like the fig tree on Holy Monday.
